Ductal adenocarcinoma may affect any individual no matter what the socio-economic situation is, and its geographic distribution is relatively uniform worldwide. Its onset may be at any age; however 80% of cases develop between 60-80 years of age, with a higher incidence among men. It accounts for the fourth leading cause of cancer death in men and the fifth one in women.
