Pneumonia in children

EnglishSpanish
Pneumonia is any acute infection of the lung parenchyma, which produces signs of consolidation, signs of respiratory distress, cough and fever. During the first weeks after birth, the most common types of pneumonia are those arising from bacteria.

Virus, on the other hand, become more important during the first infancy. These virus, together with such bacteria as Mycoplasma and Chlamydia, produce pneumonitis by infiltration of the pulmonary interstitium.
