Psoriasis

EnglishSpanish
Psoriasis is a non-contagious, papulosquamous and autoimmune disease that is mediated by T-cells. It is chronic, recurrent and its incidence is frequent. It is characterized by dry, silvery white scaly papules and erythematous plaques whose sizes and degrees of inflammation vary from one another. It may be localized or generalized, depending on the severity of the disease and the impact it has on patient’s well-being and quality of life. In spite of the fact that it can occur at any age, it generally has two peaks of onset: the first one between 16 and 22 years of age, and the second one between 57 and 60, its incidence being rather higher in men than women.
