Disorders associated with sun exposure

The skin is the largest organ of the human body. It is made up of three layers: the epidermis, or external layer, is the first defense line and is made up of flat cells called squamous cells; the dermis, composed of collagen fibers and fibrous connective tissue, and the hypodermis, made up of fatty tissue. Each of these layers provides specific functions to the skin and protectsb the body from temperature, environmental and toxic substances, and they also act as receptors of sensations.

La piel es el órgano más extenso del cuerpo humano. Está compuesta por dos capas principales: la capa externa o epidermis, es la primera línea de defensa y formada por células planas llamadas células escamosas; y la capa interna o dermis, formada por fibras colágenas y tejido conectivo fibroso. Cada una de estas capas aporta funciones específicas a la piel protege de la temperatura, es receptora de sensaciones, aísla del medio ambiente y de sustancias tóxicas.
