Pain in traumatology

EnglishSpanish
Accidental injuries are among the most frequent causes of acute pain and temporary disability, contributing to the origin of chronic pain syndromes. Both the muscular and the skeletal system are affected by almost 90% of accidental traumatisms resulting from mechanical factors. The importance of the pathophysiology of an accidental traumatism and its effects on the body
are related to the extension and the degree of the lesion, the structures affected, the age of the patient, their previous physical and psychic condition and, of course, the quickness and the appropriateness of the treatment. Only the most common lesions, such as luxations, fractures, meniscus lesions, tendinous ruptures, sprains, contusions, and muscle strains will be discussed.
