The neck is the area in the human body between the cranial base and the upper portion of the vertebral trunk. It is made up of bony, cartilaginous, and muscular parts. Vessels and nerves circulate inside, communicating the central nervous system (CNS) with the rest of the body. These vessels and nerves are used by a large number of structures and organs corresponding to the respiratory, digestive, and endocrine systems, such as the trachea, the esophagus, and the thyroid gland. The muscular part involves various superficial and deep muscles, which are illustrated and listed below.

El cuello es la región del cuerpo humano que está comprendida entre la base del cráneo y la parte superior del tronco vertebral. Está constituido por una parte ósea, una cartilaginosa y una muscular. Por dentro circulan vasos y nervios que comunican el sistema nervioso central con el resto del cuerpo y que están destinados a gran número de estructuras y órganos correspondientes a los sistemas respiratorio, digestivo y endocrino, como por ejemplo la tráquea, el esófago y la glándula tiroides. La parte muscular abarca numerosos músculos superficiales y profundos, que se ilustran y enumeran a continuación en las diferentes imágenes.
