Pain and sprains

EnglishSpanish
A sprain is a traumatic injury of a joint caused by a sudden torsion movement, presenting with tagging or ligament tear but without any displacement or fracture of the joint surfaces. Said injuries may be classified into simple or complex. The simple ones occur due to a movement that makes the ligaments of a joint to become roughly tense, causing intense pain that is generally accompanied by joint swelling. When joints are excessively forced, that is to say when they exceed their normal amplitude, a ligamentous injury is caused, damaging its fibers. Ligament fibers’ tear is accompanied by a deep hemorrhage that appears as a skin ecchymosis (bruise).
