Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (COPD) is an irreversible obstruction of the airways resulting from chronic bronchitis, emphysema or both. Bronchial asthma is excluded from this definition because, despite its obstructing the airways, it is a reversible disease.
Enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (EPOC)
Es la obstrucción irreversible del flujo aéreo debida a la bronquitis crónica y/o el enfisema pulmonar. De esta definición queda excluida el asma bronquial porque –aunque existe obstrucción del flujo aéreo- ésta es reversible.
